Let Me Leave You

Let me leave you.
Let me take from you myself that I have
Laid down for you
Like that blanket in the sand
Lie down.
I’m right here
Next to you.

Let me leave you because I have
Pushed and pushed and grabbed for you
For the you that you would never give me
For all the space between us that I
Could never push down far enough
I love you.
And in loving you I am
Bent, broken, torn to the pieces you want me to be in.

Let me leave you because I am
Not nearly enough and not nearly
Deserving to kiss
That scar above your eyebrow
That cuts and bisects you
Though you would never give me a half

Let me leave you so I can
Be with myself that isn’t
Just another part of you
That isn’t
What I have made for you out of my
Bones and blood
And given to you

Let me leave you
Knowing you will never be back
No matter how long it takes
Or
How hard I pull at the nothingness that I saw something in

Let me leave you
Alone let me leave you be
Let me
Leave you
