All could wish upon themselves

But each shall fail

The fairy tales are lies

Or so I thought

Until my life became

A fairy tale

It all started with

Once upon a time

But it didn’t finish with

Happily ever after

It’s just like any other

Love at first sight

I fell for the prince

Thinking he fell for me

Misled and mistreated

He hid his true self from me

Until I believed he was the prince

And I was his princess

The prince turned out to be a frog

I thought maybe

He needs a kiss

Upon the cheek

Tested my theory

Tried and proven untrue

He was no prince

He was no frog

I found him to be

My very own evil king

That shouldn’t be a thing

My heart was snapped in two

Whoever said to me

True love shall prevail

If all else fail

Was so very wrong

I found myself thinking my prince

My knight in shining armor

Would find his way back to me

He was too lost

No need for a map

A compass was worthless too

My true love had strayed from the path

There was no way back
