Demons
How did we get here?
Was it the choices or
Decisions I made?
Don’t we all make mistakes?
What did I ever do to you?
I never pushed you away or
Put you aside, did I?—
Because now you stick like superglue.
You deliver me all this pain.
Feelings of fear and fright
That make me feel the
Need to fight or flee your fury.
Sometimes you leave me alone.
Sometimes you give me a break.
Sometimes you chain me to the wall,
Like Jigsaw is your inspiration.
The knife in my chest laughs.
The gash in my heart cries.
A dead man walks alone
With a bloodstain on his shirt.
You smile as I rot to my core.
You never open any door.
All I do is suffer on the floor.
I beg for less and you give me more.
How did I get here?
Just ask the demons,
Because it’s them
That put me here.

This poem is about the demons I have to live with every day. I am a senior in high school and this poem was made in my creative writing class.
