shadows
the demons in my head
sometimes like to hide
in the shadows,
whispering little bits of
ideas that would get me
glares if i said them out loud.
other times,
they line up in the front of my
mind and show me everything
wrong with
me,
the world,
the other voices,
the light that i reach for.
they've been scared lately,
hiding mostly where
i can't see them.
but they love to make
themselves known when i
get bad headaches
or in certain songs.
they love to show up
in my insomnia the most.
i haven't seen their
faces lately,
though.
maybe that should
scare me most.
i just can't help but love them
because they are the only
things that haven't changed lately.
