Gave me love from the first day I was born,
He held me tight in both his arms and his heart,
I knew he loved me, then and there;
I knew right from the beginning; right from the very start.
Reaches out to comfort me as I sit sickly on the couch
He held that 4 year old tight in both his arms and his heart
She knew he loved her then and there
She knew that they’d never grow apart.
Always helped me have fun and be happy as I ran around his garden
When I’d fall he’d hold me tight in both his arms and in his heart,
I knew he loved me then and there,
I knew it then, and I’d know it worlds and worlds apart.
Never failed to fill me up, both with food, and with glee
After I came home from school at age 6 I knew he’d always be there for me
When I needed to laugh he’d hold me tight in both his arms and in his heart
He’d tell me a joke to make me smile and I knew he loved me then and there
I knew it then, and I know I’d hear his voice even if we were miles and miles apart.
Days and days with you by my side
The memories are so vast – so wide
You’re always there in thought, and in mind
Grandpa, you are one of a kind.
Playful and precious, your hugs are the best
Something that no one could put to the test
Even now that I’m older, your loving embrace makes me smile just as wide;
Please know you’ve made a huge difference in the life of your grandchild.
As an amazingly dear, loving, and generous being
You are the first man I trusted after my father
I knew right away, right after birth, but never more-so than today
That Grandpa, you are like no other.
