- What Matters
Flames: orange and blue.
They flicker and sway around me.
Fire. You ignited a fire in my soul.
I never knew I could be engulfed in flames and still be alive.
There is no pain nor fear.
There is only life to be found and I owe it to you for teaching me to live; to truly live.
To never take my todays and tomorrows for granted.
And to live everyday like a lifetime.
You taught me that I can take up space and burn bright.
I know one day my body will grow old and weary and fail to work,
but I also know that when that time comes,
I will have no regrets because you helped spark a fire in me that no one else knew I had.
And now I have a raging inferno for a spirit.
So, thank you for all of our adventures and friendships along the way.
But most importantly thank you for teaching me how to live.
Thank you, Books.
