A Simpler Life

I watch them as they graze across the verdant foliage
They walk without a fault in step
It looks as if they have no soul
But what should I say if I’m not entirely sure

The animals, they look abroad and scan the land for danger
But instincts planted in their minds are all they have to live for
And so they run a wild race – an escape from predators day to day
They have no joy or happiness like those of our own “Hip – Hoorays”
But as they live their feral lives they know a simpler form
And as I tell my rotten lies, I wish my life would take that shape
