That night,

the moon reflected upon the ocean’s rippling waves.

Soft music played while the wind coaxed our feet to be camouflaged deeper and deeper into the cool sand.

He asked for my hand and led me down to the boardwalk to take a glimpse at the stars.

He then told me,

“Listen quietly to the waves and the loudest whispers of the wind.

This soundtrack is ours.”

Our hearts collided & began to beat as one in their own melodic tune.

We were not restricted by curfew this Saturday night,

or parents emphasizing that we’d better get home soon.

We spent almost an hour not saying one word

and to our surprise,

It was the most we’ve ever said within months.

The atmosphere was tranquil and filled with perfection.

There were no words that could possibly describe every good feeling I was experiencing all at once.

there was something unusual about him that night.

I saw a different side of him that I’ve never seen before.

He was sincere,

and established.

Due to this,

I could not for the life of me remember any negative events that once happened;

The arguments,

the childish “silent treatment” games,

and the “I really cannot stand to know you” days.

I was magically blind to all those things.

Maybe it was my fault for never believing that he could possibly have a heart,

or maybe he was the one to blame for never attempting to understand me.

Either way,

Choosing who was at fault was wasting precious time.

We are now both mature,

able to see past each other’s differences,

walking side by side,

with his hand in mine.
