"Let them hate, so long as they fear me" ~Colligula

Let all who borrow from my sorrow
Follow the hollow trail that leads to morrow,
Face your pride, take a breath and swallow,
The gallows await, a tortured fate, no faith,
Take my wrath, my hate, for I'm a wraith,
Crave the love, the structure's stave,
Their souls are solely mine to save,
Seek perfection, the immortal goal,
A fresh diamond, born through coal,
So cold, the golden treasures untold,
Of the dead and droll killers of the brave and bold,

They become strong, they become fast,
Their reasons plenty, their resolve, vast,
Cast the evils from their hearts, part the present from the past,
Outcasts outlast the masses, amassing strength, they break caste,
And blast the brash unsurpassed glassed upperclass ghast,
Vivid livid poltergeists of the living loving dream contrast,
Let the light purge the darkness and burn the night,
Let the fight take their life, let the world go white,
Show the height of their might, back their bark with bite,
Should world fade from sight, recede from this hellish blight,
Pass on the wisps of smoke and soak in the last breath,
Live life longer in the cloak of the unprovoked death,
There is no end, no darkness eternal, no burning inferno,
No infernal internal demise of rhythms diurnal,
Live far beyond the what life has extended,
Live after death, stop when you end it,
Frantic fears may take hold, let go and befriend it,

Become strong, become fast, become one that may last,
At last, become the master of your own fate, now plaster
Your own life, shape it as you wish and break free,
From your own rules, from your own tyranny,
True clarity, certainty that fills one's soul with glee,
It's a burning urge to surge forth and never make a plea,
For your ocean is your own, vast and full of life,
So the seas are all your own, the storms and the strife,
It's a solemn path to take, the responsibility your own,
Should damnation arrive, should the wind never blow,
The skies will grow dark, the sun will set low,
But the sun will shine once more at the pure grit shown,
Weakness is always and forever rewarded,
For those with no backbone, whom cannot afford it,
For those whom are met with challenge with no courage found,
They will taste death, with a salty wet breath as they drown,
Those who survive one day more, with burning light at their core,
Whom take the day with the night and ocean with shore,
Those live life with no regrets, that live both rich and poor,
That abhor giving up, they endure the war to protect what they swore,
They will be the ones to go forth and grow,
And in the pitch black darkness, they glow,

Twinkling speck in the night, grow closer, be here,
Become a spectacle, a sight, live with no fear,
Cheers and jeers follow, but the path always lay clear,
Whether it is walked or not will be decisions near,
For the path has turns, the path holds darkness absolute,
Burning coals that burn and uncertainty at it's root,
Brute will power can keep one en route,
To one's own cause, they must be devout,
Small steps make the earth tremble, skies go red,
Small steps may resemble the essential bloodshed,
Stepping slowly on lowly glowing platforms,
Holy flowing growing rage of the war born,
Forever forgotten, foreigner to the fallen,
The dark world is enticing, for the darkness is calling,
The boiling emotions inside are brawling, drawing
Out the inner hatred of the mind, pulling, crawling
Out of the deepest corners of these thoughts,
Splatter one's brain and connect the dots,

Meddle with my spirits, feel them drop, hear them hit the floor,
My voice satiric and my heart crops, a burning pain at my core,
It's a poor stance to take, shaking my fate when I can do more,
Than live at the bottom, my mind is so great, my actions poor,
But nothing else can be done when I turn on those I adore,
And the lure of the lore of the lord of all turns to nothing but sore
Feelings and the world becomes dull and all but a bore,
Turn the page, then I rage, free from my cage to cause lots of gore,
But settling, leveling mental rebel, I revel the vendetta with devils,
Sentimental, I take my madness to attempt to fix the dishevel,
But sometimes it's metal and my approach is too gentle,
Like trying to destroy a metro with nothing but pebbles,

So when I'm distraught at all that I've brought, the hate that I've caught,
I think that it's not what I do, what I ought, my thoughts are too hot
To bring my pain to a stop, some times its too much, sometimes it's a lot,
And my brain starts to rot, when I try to remember why, I realize I forgot,
So I forget, my path clear and set, I catch all my thoughts with a net,
And get them back in my head, yet all that I've said is all that I've let,
My life is my own, I set my own rules,
Those who follow any other are fools,
For this life is too cruel to live in a pool,
Of questions and answer that make you a tool,
So I step forth, I make myself one and one alone,
I look back, and let them see me all alone,
They look to me, I stand before them all alone,
As alone as a loner could be, all alone,
But I am one, I am myself and myself only,
That may make them hate me, make me lonely,
I would be outcast, that's what they've shown me,
But I would be myself, forever myself only,
I would be strong, I would be fast,
My reasons many, my resolve vast,
I would cast the evils from my heart and part the present from the past,
I would outlast the masses, I would amass strength and break the caste,
And I would blast the brash unsurpassed glassed upperclass ghast,
For my life is as I choose it, and I always choose it first, and never last.

The author's comments:

Imagine a man walking through the aether, total darkness, wishing not to be followed on this path to oblivion, giving every ounce of life he has to compell those that follow that this path is destruction of one's self, erasure of one's legacy, true end with nothing left to speak of. A completed story, a life ended in a world eons away. Imagine a man who wishes desperately to have a friend in the end of time, and yet this fate is one he wouldn't wish upon the foulest soul conjured by the most twisted mind. Imagine a man with nothing left still trying to give and perhaps you will see what I do.

I very much look forward to it! X3 This is actually the first poem I spent more than a few days working on. This is about a month's worth of work.

"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." -Mark Twain

Whenever I read your poetry aloud, I feel like I'm unleashing a kind of power in the world which can never be forgiven, because the threat of its truth is so great and because the desperation of society for this truth is so much greater. This is a grenade of a poem, far beyond what I would call a "masterpiece" purely because it holds a power so much stronger than simply that of art. I really hope you publish your work someday. You're truly up there with the Greats--your poetry has that potential to affect lives and civilizations. I want to respond to your poem line by line, though, because so many little lines and nuances deserve their own accolades, so I'm thinking I'll open a Google Doc, comment out all the thoughts churning through my brain every time I read this, and share the URL with you. But in the meantime, I know you've been waiting for a comment. This is it for now. :) What can I say? I'm completely blown away. I'll just say this: I thought that "Divinity" represented an absolute height of your literary achievement. "Life Continues" has left it in the dust.
