"Clothing makes the man. Naked people carry little to no weight in society." -Mark Twain

Pools of watered fury
were destined to your eyes
when the passion came to bury
the pain you so despised

Only you could turn your back
for a love that couldn't last
your heart to wither black
for a romance of the past

spider webs spindle across your wrists
scarring over every tear
your soul swollen by an iron fist
Your heart caged with loss and fear

Your children's bible lie behind
your still sleep tousled bed
ringlets and stains of every kind
Pages un-yellowed, soul unfed.

Yesterday you threw the towel in
on the dying but flickering flame
you loved the burn of forgiven sin
and you dozed off as firemen came

Your heart was buried in a wicker basket
and sent down wild waters abound
but unshaken is your cherry wood casket
which lowers into the ground

I kept my mourning like a mime
as one does at the loss of an angel
but by the mask of withered time
I never heard your ringing bell.

Pleas never hurt yourself over a romance. Never, never, ever.
