Overcoming Stage Fright
The hot gooey substance bubbled inside me
The colors glowed from the plasma-like liquid
Strange as warm winds whispering
You just won’t believe what it did
My voice sounded more clearer than before
Never croaked, coughed, not even stuttered
It was flowing water. I spoke so gracefully
Twas like a heartening embrace, my heart fluttered
My smile beamed as my eyes twinkled with delight
The pride inside me nearly burst in surprise
The big crowd of people clapped in awe
But there was someone I missed, someone I did not realize
The person right next to me, also giving a bow
Had a smile curling right up his mouth
And not just because he did well
And not because nothing went south
But in amazement that this girl went beyond
She went past fear that kept her hidden in a sack
Now she’s standing here with him
Together, nothing could hold them back
