All That I Am
I am a scowl
A disheartening look
That takes more effort than it is worth
I am a gunshot
Resounding through the night
Making the hairs on the back of your neck
Stand up
I am a cold wind
On a late September evening
Desolate and alone
Pointless
I am a bouncing echo
The painful reminder
That you are all alone
No one but yourself
I am the forgotten basement
Passed by several times
Never walked into
I am a crack in the sidewalk
A wrongly developed mistake
Out of place
I am a circle
In a room full of squares
I am a melting ice block
Within a hearth fire
I am a bent sword
I am an indecipherable map
But most importantly,
I am myself
Still a long way
From me.
