Favorite Quote:
What things there are to write, if only one could write them! My mind is full of gleaming thought; gay moods and mysterious, moth-like meditations hover in my imagination, fanning their painted wings. But always the rarest, those streaked with azure and the deepest crimson, flutter away beyond my reach. ~Logan Pearsall Smith

Mirror, mirror, on the wall
Who's the fairest of them all?

"Not you," it says,
and I fall
down, down, down...to the ground.

If I can't be fairest, what shall I be?
The sky must be bluer than the sea.

If I must be less, how much is enough?
Fairest, to be fair, is not equal, not just.

Mirror, mirror, on the wall
Who's the fairest of them all?

"Not you," it says,
and I sink,
down past the bathroom sink,
where's it's impossible to drink
down where the coral brightens the sea.

If coral is bright, how bright is the sun?
Quite possibly, certainly, brighter than me.
(than I.)

If I am not bright, not nearly resplendent,
Must I be pale? Or merely descended

From so high up, where I was, in the sky.
If fairest is out of sight, who am I?

Mirror, mirror, on the wall
Who am I to judge your call?

"No one," it says,
and I begin to fall,
until, again, it speaks
to me.

"Only yourself."

So that's who I'll be.
