“We dream in our waking moments, and walk in our sleep.” -scarlett letter

Cool, breezy autumn days,
A simple stroll down the leaf covered road,
Trees beautifully framing the quiet fall streets,
And lead her astray from her humble aboad,

Her jacket zipped up, to the top,
Her mittoned wool hands clasp about her tight,
Ice nipping at her rosy nose,
All the fresh fall colors make like feel bright,

The minty taste, and ice of winter,
It’s inhaled and slithered down her throat,
Thanking the good lord for this day,
She listens to the last birds, quiet faint notes,

Days go by and seasons shift,
She watches the memorable streets die,
With a sigh of despair she accepts winters fate,
Where crisp leave laid, ice cold lies,

A smile returns to her face,
Soon as she partakes in winters joys,
Snow fights, skating, Christmas waiting,
The ivory white blanket, and exciting new toys,

Even ice death sparks a new horizon,
A new array of fun and love,
And though it’s hard to grasp upon,
Thank those flakes of death that fall above,

A beautiful thing, seasons changing,
Ice so soon turns to scorching heat,
But indulge in these things of nature,
For each year these things repeat

The author's comments:
Nature never ceases to surprise me. No matter how many times summer shall turn to fall, fall shall turn to winter, and winter to spring, it never ceases to bring a smile on my face to see the changing of our world.
