What I Live For
I tear through a sea of people, trying to get to the front. The runner in front of me stumbles, his shoe catching my shin. I feel the pain smoldering in my leg, but I don’t glance down. My vision focuses on the next guy.
“Atta boy, Sammy! Catch the next guy, keep picking them off!”
I barely hear my coach’s encouragement. I am pushing myself, reaching for my goal, and finding a new limit … cross country.
