August 2022 Fiction Contest: You broke me first
Every single word you uttered, I treasured. I kept it under lock and key, under the heaps of solicitude I felt for you. I guess I made it all up though, when you looked at her, I fizzled up because I thought you were looking at me. Stupid, delusional me. I thought too much, read too much into every heart breaking look I got from your intensely warm eyes. The last straw though? When I left, away from you and away from everything we had built. Away from the haunting memories. And what hurt the most?
You didn’t even say bye.
101 words. Most shortest heartbreak, but the most fiercest one yet.
