It was supposed to be peaceful, like being whispered to a land of dreams.

It was supposed to give me the feeling of floating in the dark waters of an ocean.

I was supposed to be at peace…

I have feared it for all of my years.

It was easier, though, than life ever was.

They were supposed to forgive me.

They were supposed to pardon me for all of the sins that I have done.

Now I am paying the price.

I was hoping that I would feel free, released from the shackles that bound me….

Though I may be cursed to the depths of hell

I pray for the feathery comforts of heaven

They did not want to condone me for I am now in the fiery pits of doom

The flames lick the new restraints that trap me here…

Every sin that I have ever committed has now caught up to me

They did not exonerate me; they did not look down upon me with understanding eyes….

My life wasn’t long enough, for I am now walking this barren and scorching land for all of eternity.
