Brett And The Space Aliens MAG
Brett and the Space Aliensby Nick Mancini, Auburn, NYIt was a dewy spring morning on First Avenue when Brett awoke from his long night's slumber. The sound of a family of sparrows getting an early start on their day filtered in through his open window.Slowly he rose from the bed which had held him safely in its grasp all night long and staggered into the bathroom. After a refreshing shower, he opened his front door and descended on the day. He thought how amazing it was to stand in the shade, shiver, move into the sunlight and start to sweat. It was one of those days when everything was right with the world. However, upon entering his backyard to get his bicycle to ride to school, he felt a strange feeling. Shrugging it off, he continued to put his book bag over his shoulder and went off.He did find it rather queer that there was hardly any morning traffic. Where were all the people? Shouldn't they be getting to work?Brett looked ahead and just over the hill he saw the school over the horizon. He pulled into the driveway and placed his bike in the bike rack. Where were all the other kids who should be filling the courtyard?Just then flashes of aliens or space-monsters coming down from the sky and devouring the students came to mind."Oh, my gosh!" Brett shouted in a fit of near hysteria. The crushing wall of truth hit him like a ton of bricks. The writhing pain he felt running up and down his body assured him of the truth."It's Saturday!" 1
