The Wanting Fate
The goal to improve oneself in any way has always been the idea of mankind, but is always the hardest to achieve. People try many different things; Working out, trainers, running, and in some cases drugs. But for one young boy the idea of being strong just like all of the football players he watches. His name is Joe. Joe was the only child of Mary and Peter. They were not the best parents,Mary always working and Peter always drunk but joe ties to make the best of the time that they were together. One night Joe was home alone when his dad walks in and says “Son I want you to play a sport and do something with your life instead of sitting at home here alone and wasting away our only chance at grandchildren.”
“But dad what sport would i play i'm not strong or all that athletic.”
“I know but son this will help you make friends with people.”
Joe was 5 foot 8 about 150 Pounds but he had never played a sport he only watched it on tv with his dad. So he thought to himself that if he were to play a sport it would be football. Joe was going into his freshman year of high school and this was the perfect time to learn to play football. Summer break had just started and all summer there were times for him to go and workout with the team to help get him better. Joe went everyday and made a couple of new friends over the time, but now that school had started he joined the team. Joe was put on the freshman team, with all of his new friends. He had so much fun that season even though he didn't get much playing time.
The School year went by and Joe found himself in the weight room again getting ready for the next season. He had the hope to make it on to the varsity roster this year. When the time came for the teams to be divided he found himself once again on the Jv roster. Joe was wondering why he was still on the Jv team with all of the freshmen, his friends made varsity but not him. he knew the plays he knew what to do and how to do it but in practice he would always get walked on during drills. So during the offseason he decided that he needed to get bigger and stronger.
So now with the goal of getting bigger and better he tried to hire a personal trainer at a gym so he could workout more with the goal of varsity in mind. He worked out day and night buying protein powders and changing his diet. He went from working out to practice back to working out so this way he could get as big as possible. No matter how hard the work was for him he wouldn't stop. when the time came once again in his junior year of high school he finally made the varsity roster, but on the downside never played. This made Joe angry and sad with each game going by and still never started a game. The season was over and joe was looking his final chance at playing football right in the eyes.
Joe fell into a deep despair of regret and sadness. but even with the idea of not playing a game he still strived to be the best he could. joe became certain he would get the starting spot, so he decided to try and use performance enhancing drugs to get to the point that he needed to. Joe had made it to the point which no man should ever make. With all of the drugs and things he used he became the strongest person on the team. The coaches saw the change and embraced it by giving him the starting spot his senior year. Joe ran home and told his parents about the good news, but once he made it the the front of the yard joe collapsed. Joe suffered from dehydration with all of the things he was taking. Nobody was home at the time. A few moments later their neighbor came outside and saw him laying there on the ground motionless. She screamed “ HELP, HELP, HELP.” but nobody came. she called an ambulance and he was taken to the hospital.
Once there they ran some test and called his parents. Once Mary and Peter Got there they were met by the doctor who turned and asked what he was taking. They didn't know what he was taking anything for working out. The doctor then said “With the lack of water in his body he has lost the functionality to many parts to his body and is lucky to live. His brain was damaged to a point he will never be at again.”
Peter and Mary looked at each other and cried their only son was pushing himself to a place that they couldn't help him. Following the incident his parents contacted the coaches and told them that their son will never be able to play again.
In the time of only 3 Years a Good young by with all of the potential in the world was cut short of what he could do by thinking that he needed to be better. The goal of improving oneself is always a goal in life. In mind, body, and other ways, but nevertheless pushing yourself more than what you can do and not knowing what you are doing is the downfall to all great people in life. Always make sure that what you are doing is safe, in Joe's case he didn't know what he was doing he just wanted to get better at any cost necessary.
