Funny, But Not Funny
During 2017, in Vancouver, Canada, eighteen year old, Poppy Shore was getting ready for bed. She brushed her short brown hair, and then brushed her teeth. She decided to go online and order a Keurig coffee maker since everyone at her school has been talking about it. Also, she ordered a new pair of pointe shoes for dance because one of them had a hole in it. They are expected to arrive in a week. Poppy gets settled and goes to sleep. In the morning, she meets her friend, Tiffany Baker at Starbucks. During their visit, they got in an minor altercation about politics while finishing their coffee. After a long day of school, Poppy invited Tiffany to come hangout at her house. They came home to an unmarked package on her porch. She called her parents, and they had no idea what it was. Poppy had a dilemma about whether she should open it or not. She wondered if it was the coffee maker even though she ordered it last night. They decided to bring it inside and open it. The box looked mediocre and a little beat up. She grabbed the scissors and opened the box. Inside was a bouquet of dead roses. “Ugh!,” Poppy exclaimed as she looked inside. Poppy was so confused. She hurriedly closed all the curtains and locked the doors. Tiffany suggested that it might have been delivered on accident. Poppy wondered if someone was out to get her or if it was an evil secret admirer. Then all of a sudden, there was a knock on the front door. They were really freaked out. Poppy stood up, looked through the side window, and was relieved. It was her mom coming home from work. She explained to her mom what was in the box, and her mom took out flowers to see if anything else was in the box. There was a note. Poppy opened it, and read, “Got ya! Sincerely, ?.” Right away, Poppy looked at Tiffany knowing it was her. Poppy was a little irate and admonished at Tiffany for making a joke. Poppy thought about terminating their friendship, but she knew that it was a funny, silly prank. Soon, Poppy could get even with her best friend, Tiffany. She said to Tiffany, “Remember tomorrow is another day!”
