My Shadows
I was gasping for breath, hardly able to concentrate at the task before me.
‘’Just look at the footprints.’’ I whispered to myself. There were shadows everywhere. If I didn’t follow the footprints… i’d be lost. I stepped slowly, carefully, stepping in every footprint in front of me. I needed to get out, out of the darkness where the shadows lurked and devoured anyone who couldn’t follow the steps. I stumbled. I thought I heard the shadows laughing and coming closer and closer. I screamed. Why was I in such a nightmare? I dropped my flashlight in fright when a shadowy arm reached towards me. Now I couldn’t see at all.
‘’Foolish. Foolish.’’ I said, almost yelling at myself. I was stuck. Another arm came towards me. This time it touched me.
‘’Sierra!’’ It said. I stiffened. That was my name.
‘’Wake up!’’ I opened my eyes. My sister was looking at me. I gasped in relief. It was all just a dream.
