Words mean more at night

I force my stinging eyes open to avail a blurry spectacle of cyan blue. I am alone with simply my thoughts amplified within my mind. Each water molecule forms a wet orb around me, blocking out the outside world and its incessant buzz. Instead, all is replaced with an ambient low frequency and the occasional bloop of a bubble escaping my nose. Pearly, opalane pebbles shine iridescently, reflecting the softened, yet unalloyed beams of sun. Slowly, dyspnea suffuses throughout my chest. My limbs, buttery with sunscreen, feel tense and instinctively kick my body to the surface, the rib-squeezing pressure quickly alleviating. Our Big Star, sometimes heavy-handed with generosity, steeps the surface with vivid tea leaves of sunshine, creating pockets of warmth amongst the frigid currents. I exhale, into the tacky-with-salt air. In this arcadia, the world halts. Even pelagic drafts cease - stagnant and still. Nothing can compare to the rapture of the open sea; my haven.
