Forgiving the Sun
I roll over slowly pushing back the heavy white fog of dream to make space for the sharp reality of consciousness. I stretch, yawn then roll over to shield my eyes from the sun rays which creep through the cracks in my curtain. They playfully tug at my eyes and push at my foggy blanket of dream. The sunlight dances in my room seemingly unaware that it is an intruder in the darkness. It seems to call to me begging me to roll over, begging me to dance in it’s rays. I push them away but my foggy blanket of dream is gone and the sunlight calls to me begging to be forgiven. I stretch and rub my eyes, hiding a smile from the playful rays of sun. I swing my legs out of bed and the rays blind me. I open the curtain, tugging at the heavy material that refuses to stay in place. I tilt my head up to the golden rays and smile, I forgive the sun.
