The Trip
Ever since mom died, dad has tried almost every school break to take us on a trip. I really don't like talking about my mom but it seems like no one else does either. Anyways, dad came up to me and my little brother Luke this morning and told us that he needed help taking his tools to his workshop, so we got ready and started carrying his things to his truck. He suggested we go with him so we got in the car and we were on our way. When we were coming up to his workshop he took a left instead a right where his workshop was. I told him that he just passed it but he turned up the car radio and kept driving. It has been almost four hours since we left the house and neither one of us knew where dad was taking us. Then he turned around and asked us if we were hungry. I was almost too angry to answer him, but before we could answer him, he had already turned into parking lot of a very old-looking diner. Since i was very hungry I didn't pay attention to all things suspicious going on in and around the old diner. When we walked in, all of the few people that were in there started staring at us . Quickly we sat down in a booth and an old lady with very red lipstick and a beige waitress dress walked up to take our order. While we were eating, the man with the crooked smile came to the booth beside us and greeted us. Him and my father started to talk about the trip we were taking. Me and Luke looked at each other and sighed. Then the man asked us if we knew about the weird town of Johnsonville. Great. Were going on a surprise trip and the place we just happen to stop at to eat has a story. Before he could start, dad interrupted him and said we need to keep moving. As soon as we were back on the road dad started talking about the place we were going. Johnsonville. He said Johnsonville. It kinda felt like this was gonna happen. Our surprise trip ended up straight into a horror movie. Just then our dad drove up to the small towns strangest hotel. Then he started to grab the bag of tools from the back only it wasn't bags of tools it was bags of clothes for each of us. We carried the three bags of clothes up to the hotel room dad had reserved for us. When he opened the door, I tossed the luggage onto the bed and swung the flap opened. There was almost nothing that matched in there. It was just a couple of pink, green and yellow shirts, and blue, brown, and red pants. The only thing that actually looked right was the old sweatshirt and my jogging pants stuffed down in the bottom and the clothes I was already wearing. After dinner I went to bed Little did I know, that would be the last time i would close my eyes.
