That Tom
I scratched at the window. I meowed at the door. I wanted to meet him outside. My family thought I was crazy. They told me to be quiet. My adoptive father and mother. My stepsister. No one understood me except for my sister, who would join in with me and meow.
My adoptive father and mother took me in after my mother gave birth to me. I don’t remember much. What she looked like, what type of mother she was, who knows. And I do not have a father. At least, no one knows who he was. I only have my sister, Jinx, and my other siblings with other families. I haven’t seen them in a long time and I don’t even know how they are doing. My stepsister always plays with me and pets me. She’s my favorite, understanding what I want most of the time. My mother gives me food when I meow at her. It always works. I’m a growing boy; I need my food. My father is the scariest. I sometimes do naughty things. I’m a teenager, I go through adolescence too. But every time, he yells at me. My stepsister is always the one who calms me down.
Anyways, back to the story. Sometimes my stepsister would open the door to see who I was talking to, but then she would close the door like no one was there. But I could see him. The tom who was in my territory, trespassing. I wanted to know what he was up to. I didn’t want him to hurt anyone in my family, especially my sister. But no matter how hard I try, he wouldn’t leave, and my family wouldn’t help. They just don’t understand. They think I want to play, but that’s completely wrong. After an hour, I gave in to the tom. But next time it will be different.

The author's comments:

This story is about a house cat who is locked inside. The thoughts that he has aren't really the same as the people who adopted him. He is very territorial, and wants to chase the tom/male cat away to protect his family.
