The Last Goodbye
My name is Jack Evans and by the time you’re reading this I'm already dead. I know I’m just a teenager and I had a lot to live for but I just couldn't keep up. Day by day I was losing friends trust, and my own trust. My girlfriend Kate broke up with me, and I finally realized what I was doing wrong. Kate and I were going to prom, since I’ve been dating her for 3 years, I assumed she already knew, guess not
“Jack, stop talking. I’m not going with you,” Kate snarled.
“What do you mean you’re not going with me? I thought we were going to prom together.”
“I don't think we should be together anymore, Jack.”
“You’re leaving me?” I whimpered
“You and me–it never worked, I treated you better than you would ever treat me, I’m just saving myself from getting disappointed later on.” She paused briefly, I thought she had changed her mind, instead, she turned on her heels, and walked off.
“That’s it? You’re just going to walk away?” I yelled. She didn’t stop, she didn’t even flinch. “You’re just going to walk away,” I whisper, tears streaming.
She never came back, she didn’t ever call either. No goodbye, no I’m sorry, she just left. When she left I felt empty, like a blank canvas waiting to be painted on.
At one point, Kate, a girl who could scare most guys, loved me. We were very happy the week before, heck the day before. But then everything changed. Kate lost interest, and I became depressed. Kate never seemed to show any signs of disinterest until that Friday, she was just beautiful Kate, mysterious and smart, but so innocent, until she released all wrath on me. The sad thing is she was right too. I was the problem. Kate was the glass-half-full girl but I was always a glass-half-empty guy. I never really looked on the bright side of things and I just focused on reality. Kate was the one to make everything feel like a dream. I was the one who had to focus on all the things that we all have to face.
It wasn’t only Kate’s influence who led to my decision, it was also this guy named Jake. Jake make me feel horrible about myself. He was one of the extremely athletic guys who played every sport you could think of, you name it, he plays it. Jake was also Kate's ex boyfriend. He was for sure much more attractive than me and definitely had many more talents than me. He had a jawline that could cut steel and a washboard stomach, which he never failed to show off. I on the other hand am pudgy and untalented. He is a show off, the definition of a show off actually. He could go into any sport and come out of it in even better shape than he was before, but if I went into any of these sports he plays, I would come out kicking, screaming, and crying.
It might seem stupid, but I just can’t do it anymore. I can’t put up with the stress. I lost my girlfriend, my best friend. She was my rock, my safety net, and without her I am no longer safe. If I’m not going to be with her, I am not going to be able to live with myself. I screwed up, I am a screw up. It's better if i'm gone. I love you mom and dad, Goodbye.
Quietly, Jack’s dad cupped his mouth setting down the now wet note drenched by his tears. His mom, standing by his side, gripped his shoulder tightly.
“What did we do wrong?” His mom questions.
Both of the parents stand in silence with tears streaming down their faces. They searched his room but Jack was yet to be found.
“We have to call the police.” Jack’s mom says, voice cracking
Jack’s dad dials 9-1-1 and files a missing person report and in a few hours, a personal investigator came to help crack the case.
Days passed and nobody found Jack. They contacted all of his friends and nobody has seen him lately. Jack’s mother and father were hopeless, weeping every night.
Ring, Ring, Ring. The telephone rang startling the helpless parents
“Mr. and Mrs. Evans?” a low pitched voice boomed
“Yes,” The two answered
“Your son Jack has been found”
“Where is he? Where is my baby?” The brave Mrs. Evans, emotionally twisted and scarred, asked estatically
“I'm so sorry. I don’t know how to tell you this but, Your son was found dead. We found another note taped to his shirt,”
If you’re reading this always remember, there is no happy ending to an unhappy journey.

I wrote this piece because suicie is sadly a common topic in our teenage society today. But, you always have to remember that even if it seems that you are alone and nobody is on your side, someone out there loves you.
