August 2022 Fiction Contest: Moon
About billions of years ago, I was born with the sun, the earth, and countless asteroids. I am the moon.
I was so tedious that I always reflected the sunlight to play with the barren earth.
Then on the earth came the very vibrant humans. They gazed at the sky, admired my beauty, and saw me as their god. Humans kept exploring the unknowns and created prosperous cultures and life. They developed technologies and even landed on me. As time flew by, land and sea were seriously polluted, and the earth was overloaded.
Now they left then a new cycle begins.
I am always curious about the universe and many ultimate questions. I wonder if humankind is a special species for billions of years or a common passerby for the old solar system. I wonder what the moon would think about us, humanity, evolution, and development.
Nowadays, the earth is seriously polluted, and people sometimes compromise the principle of nature. I wish people could protect the environment and our planet.
