Everyday I walk. Up the hill, left, right , two more lefts, now stop. In the house, more quiet.
Step, step, step. Up the stairs, in my room.
Quiet.
Empty.
No windows. No book shelf or even a chair. Only a plain
bed with a dim lamp. Thump. What was that? There wouldn't be a noise in my house. Thump. The noise is closer now. Thump. Now it's louder and even closer than before. Thump. It's right behind me. Thump. I turn around. Nothing. I sigh. I'm hearing things. I turn back to my morbid room. I jump.
There is a little boy crawling, his hand in a fist, hitting the floor. Thump.
“Where's my mommy?”
He's looking at me now. “Uh, I don't know sweetie,.... uh, do you know your number? Maybe I can-“
“NOOOOOOOOO!” he screeched. Then he disappeared.
“What the heck just happened?!” I screamed to no one.
“You just saw a ghost.”
I turn around. He was tall, he had dark hair, and an average sized body, but had an Hispanic accent.
“Who are you?”
“I am Juan Ponce De Leon. I was a Hispanic explorer who 'died' from an arrow. This is beyond the point. Look, you have the Sight, and you need to come with me to train. Oh, and yes, the Fountain of Youth really exists, yes I survived all these years, and blah, blah, blah. I can answer all your questions later. We have to go now. Why? Because I'm telling you now. Come on. Let's go.”
“Wait-“
“We have no time! You are about to wake up!”
“What?”
Now I found myself in bed, sweating, and muttering unintelligible things to myself. Ok, that was weird. I went outside and got to school. When school was over, I walked home, and went to go inside my bedroom. Thump.
“You have got to be kidding me!” I whined. “Not this again!” Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump.


“She's not doing any better.”
“I know. She still thinks I'm Juan Ponce De Leon.”
“It's been a week.”
“Ok. Put her down.”


Thump. Thump. THUMP. THUMP. THUMP.
Then nothing. Juan Ponce De Leon came back in wearing white and holding a needle.
“Wait, what are you-“
Then nothing. Again. Nothing, ever again. Until one day. I woke up in a house. I was a child. I was on the floor crawling and I kept on hitting the floor because I was angry. I couldn't find my mommy. Where is she? I went upstairs to find a women looking at a room. She turned around but didn't see me. Then someone grabbed me, walked through her, and put me in the other room.
“She knows where your mommy is.” Then he disappeared. I hit the floor again. She turned around. “Where's my mommy?”
