Late night scare
As I walked through the halls the sound was getting louder and louder. Each step creaking between the floorboards had me tip toeing as if I was walking on eggshells. Feeling around in the pitch dark, I trip on my brother's soccer ball lying in the middle of the hallway. “SON OF A GUN,” I screamed as I twisted my ankle and fell to the ground. After a split second, I realized what I had done. Thud. Thud. Thud. Slow footsteps climb up the stairs. I can feel my heart pounding as if it is going to burst right out of my chest. Thud. Thud. Thud. It’s at the top of the stairs. Trying to run to my parents room it was too late, it was right in front of me. I reached for the light switch and shrieked to find that it was just my aunt's dog that I had forgotten we were watching for the week. I sighed in relief.
