The Encounter
The dim lights glowed in the painted dark room. Kara squinted as she tried to focus her attention to the man sitting across from her. Sweat smoked out from her head and her body shivered heavily. She stared into her palms, rugged and sweaty, then looked up to face the man. The guy glanced toward her, and slipped out a cigarette from his shirt pocket. He gently lit it and released a cloud of smoke from his cold deadly lips. Kara sighed when she realized that he wasn't going to open his mouth first.
She whispered, "So, are you going to kill me?"

this set a good scene, and was very descriptive, so much so that i could visualize everything in my mind. but i think you could definitely turn this into a great short story if you extended it. the suspense and emotion is all there, now all you need is...everything else;)
please comment on my work:)
