The First Time

Guilt penetrated her heart. The lifeless eyes stared up at her from under the water. She looked down at her blood stained hands thinking about what He had said. The first kill was always the hardest. Unfortunately, that memory sat in the front row of her mind and constantly had its hand up. Lacey couldn’t believe she had been woken up over 600 times by that stupid dream, it had happened over ten years ago. She was a kid then; trauma should have knocked it out long ago. But, and she hated to admit it, He was always right.
