Mind Your Business Grace O
I'm a know-it-all. In preschool, I was continuously told; “mind your own business Grace O.” In second grade, my placement in the artificial social hierarchy was chosen for me. In third grade, I corrected everybody. In the fifth grade, my teacher got the entire class to literally buzz me when I'd call out the answers. By sixth grade, I was learning Spanish more easily than I learned english. As a seventh grader, people officially coined the term “know-it-all”. At my locker, in the hallway, even from my friends; I constantly heard it. It was EVERYWHERE. I hated it. I wanted to be accepted. I watched all of my friends from Enrichment act utterly moronic outside of our enhanced classes. I didn't understand; and I always understand everything. But now I understand. There's nothing wrong with being intelligent. Since when is going to a good college, and getting a good job a bad thing? I like knowing the answer. I like being the one people asks for answers. I'm flattered by those who try to copy my answers. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not perfect. In fact, I don't even believe in the theory of perfection; because perfection is a theory. But, my rants on social standards are something completely different; this is about all of us know-it-alls. People want you to hurt because they are jealous. Can you imagine how obnoxious it would be to watch someone be upset with a 99, after you studied all night for an 80? So- I'm sorry if anyone is offended by my intelligence; but don't take it out on me. I fully intend on refusing conformity and letting my freak flag fly.
