Butterfly
Signs of courage,
of wanting more.
A butterfly.
On her thighs,
Blanketing her scars and fresh wounds.
On her wrists,
hiding times of hopelessness and pain.
Now just sitting and waiting.
Waiting for the butterfly to fly away.
Waiting for a time when she's truly okay.
Wanting happiness and hope.
Wanting to find a better way to cope.
She knows what she wants
but doesn't know how to get there.
Doesn't know how to get someone to finally care.
She's tired of fighting
yet has to keep going.
For fear of someone finding out,
of somebody knowing,
That she can't really carry on like this.
Living in shame,
of her own cowardly actions,
the stupid choices she's made.
Driven from the hateful words
protruding from the lips of bullies.
