Every Breath
Step after step
Laugh and smile, hide the pain
When in actuality, behind the smile
Is a broken heart, a soul torn apart
That hurts with every breath taken
You wouldn't know this person is hiding this pain
Because everyone's picking on her in class
And she just brushes it off
But at night, when you are asleep
She is deciding whether to kill herself
Or to endure the pain of being hunted
At school, she started to fade
She hasn't eaten in days
When she's in the bathroom she is
Either throwing herself against the stall door
Sticking her finger down her throat
Or crying until she is just shaking
Her internal pain has gotten so great
That she has started to inflict pain on herself
So that she may dull the pain in her heart
But you wouldn't know this
Because she cleans herself up
And puts on a bright, happy attitude
Like a mask that is slowly eating away the wearer
