The Pale Blue Dot

Far beyond the reaches of humanity
a dark and heavy silence waits
scattered with the remains of other worlds
of failures, triumphs and stories untold
the silence watches
in a silent wait
and watches our pale blue dot
as seasons change
it watches in silence
day after day
as we melt the icecaps and turn the skies gray
we race on to live, to triumph to win
and forget about the home that held our hopes in
the only thing that makes us something, makes us stand out from the empty space
is quickly so quickly just fading away.
