“Pittsburgh: This Is Not Who We Are” by Annika Urban was such a sad yet strong piece. Urban speaks on her thoughts about gun violence and an incident that hit close to home. Her piece has not only opened my eyes but my mind to gun violence by voicing her perspective.

Urban introduces us to the comfortable and tight-knit community. However, the description of serenity is stopped with the mentioning of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting of October 27, 2018. Followed by that is the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland on February 14, 2018. Urban says, “This encircling and suffocation, this is how I view gun violence.” I completely agree. Gun violence has affected so many people and it’s not a topic ANYONE should brush off. We, as a community, need to do something.
