The writing titled “Styrofoam Pills,” written by Lena Sammamish, talks about suicide, and it left me feeling very emotional

Lena’s story talking about her sister almost dying after taking an assortment of pills she found made me think of my own life and my brother. In the story Lena tells about during a call with 911 she was asked many questions one of them being if it was intentional, she said, “It was intentional, I managed to reply.” This reminded me of when my brother attempted suicide himself. Lena after the initial start of this chaos made it to the hospital with her sister and this all makes you feel a certain sad feeling, while in the hospital and talking about her sister she said, “She looks terrible, her body is pale everywhere.” I can only imagine what it’s like to see a loved one so close to having their life taken away. Suicide affects everyone, and I feel like more people need to talk about it and Lena did a good job of doing that.
