Nian has been studying in the US. Her journey abroad has always been supported by her stepfather with whom she spent her childhood and teenage years. However, one time, they had a huge quarrels that drove Nian back to the US and never returned. Now, Nian is facing mental pressures from both cultural background and education, and she is losing faith. It is only when meeting a friend of her professor's who knows her stepfather does she realize her stepfather had died. Recalling her reasons of choosing psychology and her times spent with her stepfather, Nian starts to regather faith and tries to find peace and solace on New Years Eve.
