My Sweet Sixteen
Happy
Sweet
Sixteen!
Were the words me and my two best friends, Molly Stalter and Allyson Lacoste, were hit with when we took the lid off the presents the three of us received in Trey Yen from our mothers. We looked inside and pulled out a wood turkey, airplane, and the Beverly Hills Chiwawa DVD. We all looked at each other confused, then our mothers told us that we were taking a mother daughter trip to Los Angeles over Thanksgiving break! We were all trying not to scream and freak out in the quite restaurant. We were so excited and time could not tick fast enough.
When the day finally rolled around I could barley sleep the night before. I woke up at 4:30 then my dad drove me and my mom to the airport. As we drove across the causeway I remember looking out of the window and seeing a beautiful sunrise and thinking of the wonderful memories we were going to make on this trip. When we got to the airport me and my mom met up with Molly and mer mom, Mrs. Michele, and Allyson and her mom, Mrs. Kathy. Then we were off. About two or so hours into the flight me, Allyson, and Molly were watching a movie when we suddenly heard our names. We took our headphones out of our ears and looked around confused. Our names were coming from the flight attendant, who was talking through the speaker, and told us to come up to the front of the plane. When we got to the front we looked around apprehensively then he said, "These three lovely ladies are on American Idol." We just smiled and acted like we did that all the time. He then said, "Just kidding, but they are celebrating there sixteenth birthdays. So I want everyone to turn on their service lights." Everyone did then the lights on the plane turned off and they started singing happy birthday to us. It was cool and embarrassing at the same time. Then he told us to blow out the "candles" and the service lights turned off and the lights on the plan came back on. We went back to our seats and they they brought us a piece of cookie cake. They had some, because it was the flight attendants birthday too.
When we got to LA of course it was raining, and it never rains there. When we got there we checked in to our hotel, The Sofitel. The lobby was all black and the beds are SO comfortable that me and my mom want there down comforters for our bed's back home. Then we went to this restaurant called, Toast, and checked out the mall that was across the street from our hotel. We all went to bed early that night, because the next day was what we the most excited for. The American Music Awards!
That morning I woke up not feeling good at all. I had a massive head ache and I felt nauseous. My mom went to the CVS across the street and picked me up some ginger ale and some alka seltzer. Which my grandfather swears by, but I think there disgusting. But, my mom made me drink it anyway and after that I felt better than ever.
Me, Allyson, Molly, plus my mom were so excited for the AMA's that night we could hardly contain ourselves. Mrs. Kathy and Mrs. Michele did not want to go with us, because they thought my mom would enjoy it more than them. So they went to the Beverly Hills Hotel instead. We got dressed into our cocktail dresses and high heels and then we were off. Once we got there it was nothing like I'v ever seen before. The music award show was held in the Nokia Theater with the Staples Center right next door. We got inside and there were attractive and well dressed people everywhere. We walked around checking everything out and then all of a sudden we come to a big window with the red carpet outside of it. But, there were so many people in front of it we couldn't see anything, so we went and took our seats. We had good seats to. They weren't on the floor or anything, they were in the mezzanine, but you could see just as well.
The show opened with Usher and everyone was on there feet. You could even see all of the celebrities dancing and having a good time. It was cool just getting to see all of the celebrities in person and receiving their awards. When they would come back from commercial break, they told everyone to clap, so when they came back from the break the people at home would hear clapping and cheering.
The performances were really cool to. It was like a bunch of different mini concerts. For the finale, Psy came out and started singing his hit "Gangam Style." When the song was about to end, all of a sudden MC Hammer came out, and him and Psy started dancing and singing a combination of "Gangam Style" and "To Legit To Quite. They were also both wearing hammer's signature pants. It was one of the best nights if my life.
After the show we got a cab to the Beverly Hills Hotel to meet Mrs. Kathy and Mrs. Michele. Are cab ride was the scariest part of the night, because the car was about to basically break down in the interstate. While we were in the cab, Allyson got a call from her mom, saying get here as fast as you can. Emma Stone is here and she's sitting at the table right next to us! So we hurried and got there as fast as we could. But, we ended up going to the Beverly Hills Hilton instead of the Beverly Hills Hotel. So by the time we realized were we were, the cab driver left and we didn't know what to do.
Then the hotel offered us if we wanted to take a complementary car to the other hotel.
We all said yes without hesitation. By the time we got to the hotel Emma had already left so we didn't get to see her. According to out moms she left fifteen minutes before we got there. We were disappointed, but we couldn't complain, because we just had the time of our lives. This trip was unforgettable and I will never forget it.
