WHAT DOES THE NATIONAL ANTHEM MEAN TO ME
When I sing the national anthem I am reminded that it means honor and integrity. It would be an honor for the people who sing it at national events to stand proud and fill the American sorrow with happiness and peace. When I hear it, it keeps me believing that there is still a flame lit in the American spirit, and as long as we are still singing our country will stand strong. When we stand to sing, it gives our motherland respect and veneration. It shows me what our country is about and what makes this country great. When I think of it, I see a flag hung high and I see a crystalline sky and I see luminous white doves and I smell the passionate aroma of peace and a harmonious people. It brings joy to me when I am scared and or broken hearted.
Its words were brought upon this earth in 1914; When Francis Scott Key witnessed the terrible tragedy of the bombing of Fort Henry. The national anthem became official in 1931, and it still represents a never forgotten period in U.S.A history and is now a symbol of great remembrance. For this truly amazing piece of art to be still proudly sung today makes me proud to be an American citizen.
