Should People be able to own Exotic Animals

They might be cute when they are little but when they get older they get stronger and more aggressive. People shouldn’t be able to own exotic animals because they can hurt you, they don’t like being kept as pets, people can’t provide them with the right environment, and it is expensive.

In 2009 a woman was attacked by a 14 year old chimp. The chimp broke most of the bones in her face and ripped off her nose, lips, eyes, and hands. The animals are wild so you never know what they are going to do. They can decide to do anything at any time.

Exotic animals also suffer when they are kept as pets. People declaw them and take out their teeth. On average most people only keep their exotic pets for a year before putting them down, or abandoning them because they get too aggressive, or they don’t want to care for them anymore.

People don’t provide exotic animals with the proper environment. For example it might be too cold or too hot for the animal or you might not be giving them a proper diet. Tigers have to eat about 40 pounds a day. In the wild a tiger travels about 6-20 miles in a night. No one has that much room.

Having an exotic animal is expensive. The tiger itself costs around $10,000. Then you have to pay for the vet etc.

Having exotic animals is wrong and nobody should be able to own them.
