The "Joke"
12-12-11
"Gay marriage is wrong, I don't like lesbians."
I'm still trying to figure out why that is the first thing I hear when I enter my school. I was just sitting there quietly wearing my rainbow watch when he had pollute my ears with his homophobic talk.
"That's gay."
It's sad to know that instead of stupid, dumb, or petty we (by "we" I mean them) use gay. I understand homosexuality is "sin". I just don't get why it means they are now the punchline of every joke. And whenever I say something I become the person who ruins the "joke". And I wish it was funny honestly so I could stop cringing when I walk to class.
"What do you call a gay bar with no bar stools?"
"What?" Some kid at me school would laugh.
"A fruit stand." Both of the homophobic kids would laugh their way down the hallway...Somehow missing the gay kid staring at his shoes with a hurt expression. But it's a "joke" so apparently no one got hurt.
