Depression & Anxiety (Triggers)
School is stressful. I'm sure every high schooler has said it at least once. It's to be expected, with all the homework, projects, studying, not to mention having to make time to have a social life. But for some, the stress is so bad that they develop anxiety.
Now, anxiety is hard to catch. It can appear as irrational fears, or just being more nervous in front of a group of people. But, the longer it stays untreated, the worse it gets. A severe anxiety problem can easily turn into a depression. Now this is where it gets easier to see. Some signs of depression are: mood swings, being constantly tired, being anti-social or a lack of an appetite.
As it gets worse, some people go to extreme means to try and get rid of all the pain, anger and/or sadness inside them. Some people will self harm, or isolate themselves from anyone. Some will get high, or drunk constantly. But very few will go for counseling, because their illnesses will be decreasing their self confidence, making them feel worthless and idiotic ffor thinking that anyone would care about their problems. So, readers, if you see someone that looks upset, complement them. It doesn't have to be anything specific, it could be the freaking nail polish they have on, but that one comment will make a big difference. Believe me, I know. One comment could even save a life.
