Have you ever tried to break free?
To be something you know your not?
To sit perfectly still and never feel ill,
And never break down when you’ve lost?

One girl sits in a corner of her space,
A plastered smile on her face.
Trapped inside what she calls herself,
Calling upon the help of no one else.

Trapped though she may be,
Her soul is clawing to break free.
To break free of her perfect half
The one side that everyone sees.

The behavior of hers that everyone knows,
The one side that is always shown.
The perfect side that she’s always had,
That disguises the words that are never known.

The one side than no none sees.
A girl with hopes and is worry free
No one to depend on her,
Or to decide what she we eventually be.

That side lies idle and asleep in her head.
Only to be shown when emotions are high.
When she realizes that things are out of her hands.
And she recognizes that some things are better left dead.

Emotions are gone and the battle is lost.
She knows that she can never win.
But when she lets loose a part of that side.
She knows it will never come back in.

Have you ever tried to break free?
To be something you know your not?
To sit perfectly still and never feel ill,
And never break down when you’ve lost?

For me, writing this was almost theraputic. It let me get rid of some emotions I had stored up, and I was able to let people know how I was feeling.

Very nice. I liked it. Thank you for submitting this. Send some more when you finish them. I think it is the way many young teens feel as they are changing their place in life. I even remember feeling like that!
