My Love for You
At once you seemed so close
You held me near and dear to your heart
You wiped away my streaming tears
And helped overcome my fragile fears

 You solemnly held me
I thought you’d never leave my side
But I never would have thought
That love’s chain could be so feeble

 Your gentle touch
Made me feel safe and secure
 Your hugs and kisses
Made me love you even more

 Slowly and steadily
 You became more distant
 I didn’t know that others
Could tear us so far apart

I dream of you within my sleep
My desperation goes so easily unseen
  I cry a single tear
Before I turn to the somber of night
 Climbing so steadily near

 It’s hard to move on
 I can’t quite yet
I still have hopes and dreams
That our chain will combine again
