Music in Poetry
I can hear the music in between the lines
And I can interpret what the melody means
The harmony is among the sweet, soft sound
Of the poetry we write
And the music that I hear
Who knew the sound was with us
In such a surprising place
It’s warmth wraps us in a blanket
Of understanding and new life
Suddenly I understand
Why I’ve lived this life
In such a desperate way
The answer is right here:
I never heard the music
In the poetry before me.
