I’m sitting here, my dear, for you and only you
I’m crossing my legs, love, thinking of some truths
I’m waiting for you, honey, to stop being blind
I’m wishing, waiting, and hoping for your time

I need to be with you, sweetie, from now till the end
I need you always, darling, this is not pretend
I’m waiting for you now, as I always will
I know you’ll be here, all will soon be well

I’m twisting my fingers, sun, ever so tightly
I need you here now, don’t take it lightly
I’m waiting a lifetime, for you and only you
I know I can trust and even love your youth

I’ll keep you near, and cherish you most
I’ll love you forever, the love of a rose
All with patience and love most of all
The best of spring comes after the fall

I wait for you to come, day in and out
I know you’re out there, walking about
Who you are is the only riddle I face
Our good times one day will make that erase

Until that happens, I want you to know
Bright lights are not the whole show
We’ll be happy, hands held together
And walk in the path of forever…

I’m sitting here, my dear, for you and only you
I’m crossing my legs, love, thinking of some truths
I’m waiting for you, honey, to stop being blind
I’m wishing, waiting, and hoping for your time

Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.
