A New Day

A new day is dawning

A day to spread light and cheer

To be the best you that YOU can be

No matter what the year

It doesn't matter if its gray and cloudy

Less sunburns are great, don't you agree

Nor does it matter if the sun is blazing

That's why people build houses, if you ask me

Go outside and listen to nature

Hear the wind whistle through the trees

Listen closer…

Each tree has its own notes, you see

So don't whine or complain

It is a waste of your time

Go help someone you love

It will make your day fly by

Whether the weather is gray

Or whether the weather is bright

Remember to be the best you that YOU can be

And things will turn out alright

The author's comments:

I wrote this poem on the second day of 2018. I have had challanging events occur in my life, like my parents divorcing, attending a strange new school, and dealing with 3 category 5 hurricanes. I wrote this poem for myself, to remind me that when you live your life to its fullest potential, you can make it better.
