Concerning the Duality of Joy and Sorrow
If sorrow and joy are like black and like white,
Then life is a shade of gray.
And sometimes there’s joy in the cold of the night,
And sorrow in warmth of the day.
For joy is tied down by the string of a kite
That’s soaring above a bay,
And sorrow’s the anchor that holds to it tight
Or else it would float away.
And joy in itself will be sad in the end
As trophs follow crests of waves.
And every sorrow will finally mend
Like light that is bent by rain.
