Golden Summer

A magical, mellow morning, with a golden

sunrise and chirping birds singing their favorite A.M. ditties,

waking me from a good night sleep.

An early morning trip to the strawberry patch calls for a

fresh bowl of newly picked fruit that sits on the countertop,

everyone eyeing it down, as it is ready to be eaten.

Slipping into my swimsuit as I was bathed in sweat,

from the harvest, on my way to the sandy beach that

was as crowded as a zoo.

I laid my towel on the fine-grained sand and watched

the very few puffy, white clouds overhead. Pointing out the

certain one that looked like my favorite animal.

The sun beaming on my body, burning my skin.

Burning my skin so bad, I look like a giant red lobster.

The sun dies down and it’s time we go.

A campfire started to make our most favored snack.

Crunchy graham crackers, melted chocolate, and an

oozing marshmallow. Yum!

But, now it is time to head back in because of the

bloodthirsty mosquitoes that are such pests.

Inside playing board games,

I, so far dominating everyone.

As my alarm screams, I wish it wasn’t a dream.

For, I have to go back to that hell hole.
